Putting green installation in Roseville works best when the green is built as part of the yard. We pour the concrete and install the turf, so the green and its border get planned together. The putting surface usually sits inside one of the artificial turf lawns we build. A fringe of lawn turf rings it, and a poured concrete border holds the edge.
The cheapest time to add a backyard putting green is while the yard is being built. Often that is a new construction backyard handed over as graded dirt. It can also be a lawn conversion, when the old grass is coming out for turf anyway. Adding a green later means cutting into turf that was already finished.

Every green starts with a layout sized to the yard. We mark the shape and cup spots, then check the lines against any patio or pool deck nearby. Next we dig out the footprint and pour the concrete border. That border gives the turf a solid edge to lock against.
Base rock goes in next, in layers, compacted hard and graded to drain. A putt shows every soft spot, so a green's base gets more compaction and hand work than a lawn's. The contours come from the base as well. Any break you want in a putt gets shaped into the rock, because the turf follows whatever sits under it.
With the base shaped, the cups get set and the putting surface goes down. It is a short, dense turf made for a ball to roll on. A fringe of regular lawn turf wraps around it, seamed tight, and sand infill gets brushed in last. The outer edge ends at the concrete border, which holds it in place.
One published 2026 guide puts a backyard putting green at $15 to $40 per square foot for professional installation. The same guide says most homeowners spend between $6,000 and $20,000 in total. Large custom builds can reach $40,000 or more. A second 2026 guide puts a professional install at $14 to $22 per square foot.
Per square foot, a green usually runs above a plain turf lawn. More of it is hand work: the base gets shaped and compacted tighter, and the cups get set. Two kinds of turf meet at the fringe, and the border gets poured. Small greens also carry fixed setup costs, so their rate per foot climbs.
The ranges above are published market figures. Your own number comes from a free estimate and a written quote, after we see the yard in person. For the lawn side of the budget, our artificial turf cost guide breaks down each line item.
Size follows the yard and the putts you want to practice. One 2026 guide notes that even small yards can fit a green as small as 150 square feet. Another prices a standard green of 300 to 500 square feet at $5,000 to $7,500. Bigger greens leave room for longer putts and more cups.
Placement matters as much as size. The corner of a turf lawn is the easiest spot, since the green shares the lawn's base and drainage. One of our builds sets a green with two flags into the corner of a big turf lawn. It sits beside a pool, framed by a poured concrete curb.
A green beside a concrete pool deck or a patio puts practice a few steps from where you already sit. Side yards work too, when the strip is wide enough for a putt with some break. Keep the green out from under trees where you can, since falling leaves settle on the surface.
A green is one piece of a yard plan, and the order of work decides how clean it comes out. Grade and drainage come first. Then the underground goes in: drain lines and sprinkler lines, plus conduit. Concrete and walls come next, then turf, sod, rock and planting.
That order fits a new construction yard in Roseville, Rocklin or Lincoln, handed over as graded dirt. Starting from dirt, the green and the concrete walkway that leads to it share one plan.
The beds around a green still need water. Roseville's watering schedule lists no outdoor landscape watering between 10 a.m. and 8 p.m. We set up the drip zones and controller so those beds water outside that window.
A green fits naturally into a complete backyard remodel, with the patio, pool deck, turf and planting built in order. One reviewed project covered a concrete patio, a stamped slab with a pergola, turf with steps and a retaining wall. The reviewer wrote that "everything was done correctly." For the full yard budget, what a backyard remodel costs around Sacramento lays out the big line items.

We look at the space in person: grades, drainage, access, what comes out and what goes in. You talk directly with the people who will build it, not a salesman.
You get a clear written price for the full scope (concrete, walls, turf, irrigation, the whole build) with finish options laid out so you can decide what fits the budget.
Proper base prep, forms, reinforcement and drainage before anything gets poured or planted. The crew shows up when we say, keeps the site clean, and communicates every step.
We walk the finished project together: finishes, cleanup, care instructions for new concrete and turf. Done means you have looked at every part of it and said so.

We used RMR for a pretty large project. Full back yard patio of concrete, raised stamped slab with pergola, turf with concrete steps, retaining wall on the side, front patio all in concrete, a lot of rock and a ton of plants and a tree. They did an absolutely amazing job and more importantly, everything was done correctly.Google review · June 17, 2026
Jose and his team just completed a whole backyard for us — and did a great job. They consistently showed up when they said they would, were fairly priced, and did exactly what we asked for with great communication. A member of Jose’s team even smoothed a little patch of our newly poured concrete so our kids could make handprints.Google review · April 2, 2026

Concrete, turf, walls, irrigation and planting built by the same team, so materials meet cleanly, the schedule holds, and one builder stays accountable from dirt to done.

Triple-digit summers and wet winters are the design brief here: turf that stays green in August, drainage that moves winter rain, and concrete poured on base prep that will not settle.
Site walk first, written quote second, work that matches it third. Our reviews say it plainly: showed up when they said, fair price, everything done correctly.
