A concrete slab looks like the simplest thing we pour. It is also where shortcuts show up first: cracking over soft base, ponding from bad screed work, edges that crumble because the mix was wrong. Three things, all invisible once the truck leaves: base, thickness and reinforcement. Base gets excavated and compacted so the slab bears on solid ground, not fill. Thickness matches the load, from four inches for foot traffic to more where vehicles park. Reinforcement and control joints manage the cracking every slab wants to do.
Our region adds a fourth: water. Valley clay swells wet and shrinks dry, so slab edges get drainage thought before the pour. On wet lots we pair the slab with a French drain so the base stays dry year round.
A shed pad wants clean square edges at the kit's exact footprint. An RV pad wants entry apron geometry a long wheelbase can actually use. A hot tub pad wants level within a fraction of an inch and a route for the electrician. These details come standard because we ask what the slab is for before we quote it.
