A French drain is a gravel-filled trench with a perforated pipe at the bottom. Water soaks in, enters the pipe and flows away by gravity. Simple idea, and the right fix for a specific problem: ground that holds water because Valley clay will not let it soak through. We install French drains across Roseville, Rocklin, Lincoln and across the Placer County corridor, sized and routed for how your yard actually collects water.
Drains rarely work alone. Ours are planned with the grading around them, tied into downspouts where roof water is part of the problem, and routed to a discharge point that can legally take the flow. If the yard needs more than a drain, we build the rest too — drainage grading and catch basins, or protection for a planned patio before it is poured.

Much of the region sits on heavy clay. Summer bakes it hard; winter rain sits on top of it. Once the top few inches saturate, water stops moving down and starts moving sideways, collecting in low spots, side yards and against concrete.
A French drain works because it gives that trapped water an easier route than the clay: into the rock, into the pipe, out of the yard. The fix lasts because gravity does the work. The city's older neighborhoods are where we install the most of them; French drain installation in Sacramento covers the city-specific details.
The parts matter less than the order and the slope. We dig to a depth that actually intercepts the water, set consistent fall over the full run, wrap clean rock in filter fabric so soil cannot silt the pipe shut, and route the outlet somewhere the water is allowed to go.
Skipped fabric, flat spots in the pipe and outlets that dead-end are why cheap drains fail in two winters. You will not find any of the three in our work.
The common calls: a side yard that stays swampy into spring, water creeping toward the house or garage slab, a lawn area being replaced with turf that needs the base dry, and the uphill side of retaining walls, where a drain is not optional.
If you are planning concrete or a full backyard build, the drain goes in while the ground is open. It costs less then, and the new work never sits in water.

We look at the space in person — grades, drainage, access, what comes out and what goes in. You talk directly with the people who will build it, not a salesman.
You get a clear written price for the full scope — concrete, walls, turf, irrigation, the whole build — with finish options laid out so you can decide what fits the budget.
Proper base prep, forms, reinforcement and drainage before anything gets poured or planted. The crew shows up when we say, keeps the site clean, and communicates every step.
We walk the finished project together — finishes, cleanup, care instructions for new concrete and turf. Done means you have looked at every part of it and said so.
